Kid Creole at Nokia Night of the Proms 2010-08-18 12:00:00

Kid Creole And The Coconuts have been announced today for the German Night of the Proms. With their energetic mixture of calypso, disco and pop they will garantee the party feeling, which have they already shown in 2007, when they took part in the Proms in Belgium and the Netherlands. The line-up in Germany is now complete with Cliff Richard, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Boy George, John Miles, Lichtmond and Charlie Siem as classical soloist (violin).

The popular American singer-songwriter John Fogerty is added to the bill of Night of the Proms. He became famous as singer-songwriter of Creedance Clearwater Revival and has been rewarded with a Grammy Award for his solo career. He wrote world hits such as ‘Proud Mary’, ‘Bad Moon Rising’, ‘Who’ll Stop The Rain’, ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’, ‘Old Mand Down The Road’, ‘Centerfield’ and ‘Born On The Bayou’. John Fogerty will share the Proms-stage this fall with Boy George , violinist Charlie Siem and a surprise act (in Belgium).

Sir Cliff Richard is the headliner of Night of the Proms in Germany. The musical project Lichtmond was also added to the line up of the annual festival.

With Cliff Richard, John Miles, Boy George, Lichtmond and classical soloist Charlie Siem, Night of the Proms in Germany offers a varied line-up. One artist will soon be announced so the German line up is complete.

Charlie Siem (24) is one of the most talented violinists of his generation. This British violinist plays as a soloist at major international classical music festivals and brings traditional repertoire as well as new music with major orchestras and international artists such as Bryan Adams. Night of the Proms is very pleased to add this exceptional musician to its programme this autumn in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Charlie Siem is the second name to be announced, after Culture Club frontman Boy George. More names are to follow.

A singer, DJ, actor, fashion designer, photographer, Boy George remains today one of the worlds most recognizable iconic figures.

Boy George helmed the production of his hit musical taboo performances ran in both London and on Broadway and the score was nominated for a Tony Award.

French singer Laurent Voulzy had to wait 25 years but his patience has been rewarded: he’s finally going to spend ‘the night with Kim Wilde’, English singer to whom he dedicated his song in 1985 ‘Les nuits sans Kim Wilde’. Music lovers can attend this unique encounter on Saturday, April 24 in the RTL Spiroudôme at Charleroi.

DIV4S is an ensemble of four sopranos performing evergreen hits, Italian classics and international famous songs performed with operatic voice and orchestra suggestions, with the contamination of pop sounds and rhythms. Desireè, Isabella, Vittoria and Sofia all young and full of enthusiasm will also perform at Night of the Proms in Charleroi.

Saturday April 24, Night of the Proms blows the roof of the RTL Spiroudôme in Charleroi with a prestigious programme. Sharleen Spiteri, the lead singer of Texas, and Kim Wilde are announced for the 7th edition of Night of the Proms in the French speaking part of Belgium. They will perform their greatest hits under the accompaniment of the symphonic orchestra Il Novecento led by Robert Groslot.

Sharleen Spiteri and her band Texas made a spectacular debut with the song “I Don’t Want A Lover”. With a mix of electropop and hiphop Texas scored hits such as “Say What You Want”, “Black Eyed Boy”, “Put Your Arms Around Me”, “Summer Son” and “Inner Smile”. Sharleen Spiteri was a guest at Night of the Proms in Antwerp in 2006.

Kim Wilde is an icon of British pop music from the eighties. She made her debut in 1981 with the new wave classic “Kids In America”. In 1987 she was in the American charts with her version of the song “You Keep Me Hangin ‘On”, originally by The Supremes. Other hits from her are “Cambodia”, “Checkered Love” and “You Came”. Together with the German singer Nena she scored the hit “Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime”. In 2007, Kim Wilde toured with Night of the Proms in Germany.

On April 24 the Night of the Proms-fans in the French speaking part of Belgium will be able to enjoy the music from Sharleen Spiteri and Kim Wilde.

Review: Night of the Proms Rotterdam 2009-11-21 14:52:00

“Last night saw the first of a run of seven concerts in the Ahoy, Rotterdam. A sell out crowd were full of enthusiasm and excitement as the lights dimmed and life stirred on stage. The atmosphere was electric and the crowd applauded wildly as the orchestra began its nights work starting with a spectacular overture accompanied by a dazzling light display.”
